we’re diving straight into the dazzling new addition to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang China — Hero No. 129, Wu Zetian. Without further ado, let’s explore the elegance, power, and historical legacy behind this beautiful and deadly mage.

A Glimpse into History

Before we get into her skills and design, let’s talk a little about the woman behind the legend. Wu Zetian wasn’t just a fictional creation — she was a real historical figure. Out of the 557 emperors in Chinese history, Wu Zetian was the only female to ever rule as Emperor. That’s right — not just an Empress Consort, but a full-fledged ruler who commanded her empire with wisdom and strength. Achieving such power in a male-dominated era was no easy feat — Wu Zetian was truly a force to be reckoned with.

In MLBB’s lore, her rise to power is echoed through her story. She starts off as a concubine in the Cadia Riverlands, but her ambition and brilliance lead her to ascend the legendary Phoenix Throne. That symbolism is strong in her design — both majestic and fierce, just like the mythical bird.

Visual Design – A Royal Phoenix

Wu Zetian’s hero model is stunning. As expected, she’s dressed in regal attire with a lot of phoenix-themed elements — fitting for someone who rose to power through fire and ashes. The design reflects her royal status and magical prowess, with smooth animations and beautiful effects that catch the eye instantly.

Some players have voiced concern about yet another mage from Cadia Riverlands, but considering Wu Zetian’s significance in Chinese history, she’s a perfect candidate to introduce and promote MLBB in the Chinese market. Plus, her lore aligns with other heroes from Cadia — like Zilong, Ling, and Wanwan — adding more depth to the region’s narrative.

Let’s Talk Skills

Passive Skills

Wu Zetian is unique — she comes with two passive abilities:

  • First Passive: Every time she hits an enemy, her magic damage and mana regen increase by 0.5%, stacking up to 20 times. That’s a potential 10% boost to both stats. A great incentive to stay aggressive in fights.

  • Second Passive: This is a defensive mechanic — when enemies come close, an automatic shield activates, pushing them back while dealing magic damage. The shield scales based on her hero level and magic power, offering survivability in tight skirmishes.

Skill 1 – Primary Damage

This is her main damage dealer — Wu Zetian unleashes three AOE waves that scale with each hit. It’s not only effective on heroes but also on minions, which helps with lane clearing. The third wave adds a bit of displacement, giving her crowd control capabilities.

Skill 2 – Reposition and Strike

Her second skill is another AOE ability, useful for both dealing damage and repositioning. While it doesn’t feel quite as fast as the others, it’s still fluid and gives her more options during battle.

Ultimate – Global Devastation

Now this is where things get exciting. Wu Zetian’s ultimate is global — it deals damage and stuns all enemies across the map, provides vision, and slows them down. It’s visually impressive and extremely hard to avoid due to the slow effect.

What’s more? You can move and cast other skills while channeling the ultimate. That flexibility makes her incredibly versatile in team fights, turning the tide from anywhere on the battlefield.

In-Game Feel and Performance

Even playing on the Chinese server with over 120 ping, she still feels incredibly smooth. Her clear speed is fast, and her abilities flow well into each other. The only slight drawback is Skill 2 feels a bit slower than the others, but that’s a minor nitpick.

Sadly, there’s no intro animation, which feels like a missed opportunity for such a powerful character. However, her recall and death animations are well done — just watch out for stutters if your ping is high.

Exclusive to China?

This brings us to the big question — will Wu Zetian be released globally or remain a China-exclusive hero? Given her cultural and political significance in Chinese history, she’s clearly tailored for the Chinese market. However, it would be disappointing if such a well-designed and fun-to-play hero remains locked away from the global player base.

Final Thoughts

Wu Zetian is elegant, powerful, and historically grounded. Her design, lore, and gameplay mechanics blend seamlessly into the world of MLBB. She’s not just a "cool" hero — she’s a symbol of resilience, intelligence, and power.

Whether she remains exclusive or not, one thing is clear — Wu Zetian has made a memorable entrance into the MLBB universe.
